About Vertical Text in PageFocus
You can create/edit vertical text, table
with vertical text, or fields with vertical text. You can also curve a vertical text.
To create vertical texts, you will need fonts
that start with '@'. Microsoft provide a number of such
fonts. Of course,
other font vendors also provide this type of fonts.
To create vertical text in PageFocus, you
can click the vertical text tool
icon and then follow the instructions. You can also switch a "horizontal text" object into a
vertical text object by following the menu command sequence: Text
-> Option -> Convert to Vertical.
To create a table with vertical text, you will need
to select a vertical font, then select the table tool icon to create
the table.
If you use Microsoft's Input Method
Editor (IME), PageFocus provides WYSIWYG style input, which means that,
the text will be shown at the right location
while you are composing the text.
How to create a vertical
text object:
1. Create a new page, or open an
existing page.
2. Click
the text tool button, either horizontal text, , or vertical text, . Note that,
vertical texts require fonts
that start with '@' in its font name. If you don't have such
font, then you will not be able to create vertical text (from right to
left). For example, "新細明體" is a horizontal font, while "@新細明體" is
a vertical font.
3. Drag mouse to create a
text area. Now the
"caret" is flashing and you can start to enter text. To end text
editing, press "Esc" key, or, you can double click the mouse outside
the text area. To re-edit a text object, select that object by
clicking on top of it, and then double-click on top of it, or just
simply press the "Enter" key.
4. The default Chinese text entry
of PageFocus uses Microsoft's IME (Input Method Editor), similar to
those used by Microsoft Office. The display is based on "WYSIWYG"
(What You See Is What You Get) style and the entered text will be
initially in dark blue color during the "composition" stage. It
will change to whatever color (like black) only after you have accept
the "composition".
